Does Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes Want to Keep the Bantamweight Belt and Can She Still be Considered the GOAT?

On Saturday, the one person that we thought was unable to be defeated was defeated. Amanda Nunes was literally the only person who is currently in the UFC that everyone thought was unbeatable. She tapped in the second round against Juliana Peña due to a rear naked choke. Though it was a great moment for Peña, Amanda Nunes was strapped the UFC Women’s Bantamweight belt. Some of the questions this leads us to are, did Amanda Nunes want it and can she still be considered the GOAT?

Let’s be completely real here, Amanda Nunes doesn’t want it anymore. Amanda Nunes could’ve gone further, she just didn’t want to. It is almost like when Nick Diaz made his big comeback and just gave up. She just gave up. In March, when Amanda Nunes fought Megan Anderson, no one would think that anyone would ever beat her. I think her priorities just changed. Even UFC president Dana White said that once you get money and have a kid, your priorities change. Also, Peña didn’t even have the hooks in. Amanda could have escaped if she really wanted to. Don’t get me wrong, Peña is an amazing fighter, but I think Nunes could’ve beat her if she had the passion for wanting to win that she once had before.

Now here is the real question, can Amanda Nunes still be considered the greatest of all time? Well, at the moment I don’t think there is enough information to make a certain statement. Personally, I think you can. She is undefeated at 145 and she is still champ in Featherweight. If Peña beats her again, my answer to that question might be different.

Amanda Nunes is clearly one of the GOATS whether she loses a fight or not. I am still convinced that she is the GOAT, but Peña high on the list too.
